Yuzu - a cross between a lemon and a mandarin

Yuzu is a local fruit in Japan that is often described as a cross between a lemon and a mandarin orange.

This citrusy fruit is locally grown in Kochi Prefecture, and commonly used to bring out the flavour and fragrance in Japanese dishes.

Umaji Village is one of the few renowned towns in Kochi Prefecture that produce yuzu.

With its cold atmosphere and mountainous surroundings, the village is blessed with countless yuzu trees and virgin Japanese cedar forests, where you can enjoy this traditional fruit to your heart's content!
