The Edinburgh Festivals 2022

Edinburgh celebrates its 75th anniversary as ‘festival city’ in July and August 2022.

The annual stable of festivals, which attract visitors from across the world, include the :

Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival 15 to 24 July 2022 
The Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival offers 10 days of live performances of every jazz genre from New Orleans to Brazilian jazz to 1920s traditional and smooth jazz

Edinburgh Art Festival 28 July to 28 August 2022 
This is the UK’s largest annual visual arts festival and features leading international and UK artists alongside the best emerging talent, major exhibitions and a special programme of newly commissioned artworks

Edinburgh International Festival 5 to 28 August 2022 
The Edinburgh International Festival will present a programme of over 80 events across the city that celebrates its 75 years of ‘bringing world cultures together’. The festival embraces the international world of music and the performing and visual arts.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe 5 to 29 August 2022 
The world famous Edinburgh Festival Fringe started, when theatre groups not invited to the International Festival, still came to the city to stage their productions. The 75th anniversary of the Fringe will bring together its hugely popular and totally eclectic range of shows that take in theatre, comedy, music, dance, circus, musicals, variety and cabaret.

The Royal Military Tattoo 5 to 27 August 2022 
Staged on the iconic Edinburgh Castle Esplanade, the Tattoo brings together over 800 performers, from across the world. There will be cultural showcases and musical presentations by performers from Mexico, the United States, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand along with those from the UK. A highlight is always the Massed Pipes and Drums and musicians from UK Military Regiments.

The Edinburgh International Film Festival 12 to 20 August 2022 
The film festival will have screenings of major features, short films, experimental cinema and documentary films. Edinburgh International Book Festival 13 to 28 August 2022 One of the world’s prestigious literary festivals, with some 600 events featuring over 550 authors, performers, musicians and ‘thinkers’ from 50 countries.
