How to Plan an Unforgettable Skiing Holiday in Austria

A skiing holiday in Austria stands for everything your clients love (and missed!). Think of endless slopes, untouched powder, snowshoeing through a winter wonderland and a hearty meal in a cosy hut. In Austria they are spoiled for choice: beginner friendly, World Cup slopes, freeride paradise or glacier skiing – you name it, Austria has it all. Our small country is home to over 400 skiing resorts. Traditionally, the season ski starts at the beginning of December and ends in April. Some resorts located at a higher altitude have longer seasons (e.g. October - June).

The good news first: As of mid-May, Austria removed all remaining COVID-19 related restrictions. Meaning that international travellers can now enter the country without needing to show proof of vaccination, a recovery certificate, or a negative test result. The fastest way to the slopes from Australia is flying into Munich or Zurich and then take the train/private shuttle to the resort. If your clients are already in Europe, Innsbruck or Salzburg have airports for regional flights only.Which resort to choose? Due to the number of resorts, this can be a bit tricky. It depends on what type of skier your clients are, if kids are coming along, what time of the year the trip will be etc. Scroll down to find our top recommendations for an unforgettable skiing holiday. When to go? To score less crowded slopes we recommend going after 6th of January until the end of January as there are no school holidays during this time and the snow is fantastic. March is also a wonderful time to enjoy some spring skiing. If your clients want to ski before Christmas, I recommend choosing a resort at a high altitude (e.g. Sölden).
