GREATER MEKONG SUBREGION COVID-19 TRAVEL POLICIES

The nations that make up the Greater Mekong Subregion have opened up to foreign visitors. Read the summaries below for the update.

Cambodia
Fully open for tourism, effective 17 March 2022. No COVID-19 travel-related testing requirements nor quarantines are required for visitors showing proof of vaccination. Unvaccinated travelers are required to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

Myanmar
Fully open for tourism, effective 15 May 2022. Visitors must provide proof of vaccination at least 14 days before arrival, included with eVisa application; and undergo Antigen Rapid Diagnostic Test upon arrival, and bear the 15,000 MMK (US$8) cost.

China
Visits for tourism purposes open for domestic travel but still restricted for international travel. As of 19 May 2022, International visitors must undergo two nucleic acid tests 48 hours before their flight and one antigen test 12 hours before boarding. Arriving visitors must quarantine for at least 14 days upon arrival, regardless of vaccination status. 

Thailand
Fully open for tourism, effective 1 June 2022. Visitors must present a valid Thailand Pass QR code, proof of COVID-19 vaccination, and insurance with US$10,000 minimum cover. Upon entry, vaccinated visitors can travel without restrictions; unvaccinated visitors must show results of negative RT-PCR test within 72 hours of travel. 

Lao PDR
Fully open for tourism, effective 9 May 2022. Visitors with proof of vaccination will not need to take pre-departure or on arrival tests, nor will they need to quarantine. Unvaccinated visitors must take an antigen test up to 48 hours before arrival. 

Vietnam
Fully open for tourism, effective 15 May 2022. Visitors must present medical/travel insurance for COVID-19 treatment with US$10,000 minimum cover. PC-Covid mobile app must also be downloaded and presented before entering any Viet Nam establishment.
