In rural Newfoundland and Labrador last October, a two-storey house bobbed along the Bay of Islands towards a new life on the opposite shoreline.
The homeowners dreamed of moving from the small town of McIvers across the bay – so, they studied YouTube videos and recruited locals to help them float their home across the water, following a historically common way of resettling among coastal communities.
Today, visitors can view traditionally resettled communities on a guided tour with companies like Port aux Basques, Marine Excursions and Gypsy Sea Adventures.
