Local Tasmanian produce set to arrive in Hong Kong onboard Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific’s has recommenced its seasonal cargo service between Hobart and Hong Kong.

The first flight of the seasonal service, operated on an Airbus A350-900 cargo-only passenger flight, departed Tasmania at 6.30pm on Monnday 29 November carrying a variety of high-quality fresh Tasmanian produce including live lobsters and abalone.

The seasonal service will see produce including seafood, cherries and a range of other fresh produce, transported to key Asian markets including Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines as the airline continues its support of Australian exporters following another tough year for the industry.

This is the second year of Cathay Pacific’s seasonal cargo service, the first non-charter international carrier to operate a cargo service direct from Hobart for over 20 years (since 1998).

Cathay Pacific Airways is one of the world’s leading international cargo carriers. The resumption of this service shows the airline’s continued support of local Australian exporters, facilitating the movement of a wide range of fresh produce from Tasmania to various part of Asia via Hong Kong, one of the world’s busiest Cargo Logistics Hub.

Cathay Pacific’s seasonal cargo service will be operating at an increased flight frequency from now until February 2022, in line with produce needs and demand. To view further details on this season’s cargo schedule, please visit www.cathaypacificcargo.com.
