Forty-eight hours in Denver, Colorado

Denver is the capital of Colorado and known as the Mile High City .

It dates back to the Old West era with Larimer Square, the city’s oldest block, featuring landmark 19th-century buildings.

Museums include the Denver Art Museum, an ultramodern complex known for its collection of indigenous works and the mansion of famed Titanic survivor Molly Brown.

Denver is also convenient for the ski resorts in the nearby Rocky Mountains.

For a 48 hour stay in the city a suggested itinerary :

Day one
Morning
Denver Union Station

One of the city’s most historic landmarks, Denver Union Station is home to the iconic Tattered Cover Book Store as well as a number of other boutiques.

Outside the station, visitors can take the free MallRide bus which runs daily along 16th Street Mall.

Its final stop is the Civic Center Station, giving easy access to the Golden Triangle Creative District and its16 museums and galleries including the Denver Art Museum, Clyfford Still Museum and History Colorado Center.

The Colorado State Capitol Building has the official Mile High step.

Afternoon
The Colorado Convention Center has the Big Blue Bear, a 40-foot statue which can be seen peering into the center’s windows and, at Confluence Park, one can stroll alongside the South Platte River tom the Empower Field at Mile High, home of the Denver Broncos.

Day two
Breakfast at Denver Central Market in the RiNo district, which offers a number of boutiques, breweries and galleries to explore as well the street art by local and international artists.

Denver Graffiti Tour is a way to hear the stories behind the murals.

Afternoon
City Park offers sweeping views of the city, where visitors can stroll around Ferril Lake, pay a visit to the 3,000 animals residing at Denver Zoo or head to the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.

Boutique hotel Life House, which opens in May 2020 in the Lower Highlands neighbourhood will combine ‘Victorian influences with Native American accents’, for “mature millennials”.
