Mekong Tourism - Nominate your Mekong Heroes

(MeTAG) during the 1st Virtual MeTAG Meeting.
Through our activities, we are in constant contact with governments and organizations in the Mekong Region and beyond. It is heartening to see the engagement of individuals in the travel industry to work on recovery efforts and build a strong and resilient tourism sector in the GMS in the future.

We had our first Mekong Tourism Advisory Group conference call this week, in which an impressive 68 members from governments, hospitality, tours, development agencies, and non-governmental organizations participated. The call was discussing the status of tourism in the Mekong Region and how Mekong Tourism can support the recovery through activities and tools. We would like to thank all MeTAG members for their participation and insights and look forward to our next call. Please see the article by TTR Weekly for more information about our 1st Virtual MeTAG Meeting.

You can see all current MeTAG members here. If anybody would like to join MeTAG, and will add a unique and currently not represented sector or viewpoint, and be a guaranteed responsive and engaged member of MeTAG, please contact me for consideration.

Indeed, honoring individuals, who have made an impact on the tourism sector, is the goal of our new "Mekong Heroes" initiative. We would like to tell the stories of people, who have inspired and influenced the direction of our industry. From innovative entrepreneurs, passionate managers, and visionary executives, to selfless officials, or tireless field workers who have modeled new ways of conceiving and doing tourism better: We are inviting your nominations on https://www.mekongtourism.org/experience-mekong/mekong-heroes/ for individuals that are worth being honored and named as Mekong Tourism Hero. Please see the article by TTG Asia for more information.

While you are on [MekongTourism.org]MekongTourism.org, please do use the opportunity to stay updated on current developments through our dedicated CORONA Virus Resource Page and browse our intensive database of articles and publications.

With this, I wish you a good week. Please stay healthy and take care of your family and employees.

#StayAtHome today so we can #TravelTomorrow.

Kind regards,
Jens Thraenhart, Executive Director
Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office (MTCO)
