HOW TO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS

Take a load off

This year is your #timetoconnect! Parks Canada has installed red chairs at memorable locations in national parks across the country. Explore, relax and snap a selfie from one of Yoho or Kootenay’s red chairs on the Marble Canyon and Juniper trails in Kootenay National Park and or the red chairs at Yoho Lake and Takakkaw Falls in Yoho National Park. Soak up some history
The Radium Hot Springs have been a favourite stop for travellers for over a century. Relax and enjoy the soothing waters of Radium Hot Springs this summer. The hot springs are open from 9am until 11pm from May 20th until September 5th. Locker, towel and swimsuit rentals are available.

An afternoon stroll
Enjoy a half-day hike alongside the turquoise blue Tokumm Creek from Marble Canyon to the Pant Pots. Admire mountain peaks, wildflowers and see how tall lodgepole pine trees can grow in 13 years.

Stay in an “oTENTik”
Rough it without getting your feathers ruffled in one of Kootenay’s ten oTENTiks. Part-tent, part-cabin, these unique tents sleep six and are available only in Parks Canada locations.

Scenic drive

Driving through Kootenay National Park? Be sure you search “Explora Kootenay” on iTunes or Google Play before you leave to download Kootenay’s new driving tour app. Hear stories about wildlife, fires and driving the highway in the 1920s from Parks Canada Staff. You may even discover some new places to stop and explore!
