What’s Hot in 2020 in Britain

RHS Bridgewater near Manchester
From England being awarded one of world’s hottest destinations by Lonely Planet to spectacular gardens and a new 007 on the way, 2020 is the ideal time to explore the undiscovered parts of the British Isles.

Gardens are blooming across Britain in 2020 as the country celebrates 125 years of the National Trust. A key highlight next year is the opening of the RHS Bridgewater near Manchester. This is Europe’s largest horticultural heritage project, designed by renowned landscape architect Tom Stuart-Smith, and will be twice the size of Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens when complete.

This month Lonely Planet crowned England as one of the top destinations to visit in 2020. The award shines a light on the English seaside and the launch of the England Coast Path in 2020. Providing access to the country’s entire coastline for the very first time, at nearly 4,800km (3,000mi), it will be the longest continuous trail of its kind anywhere in the world.

The first ever Coast to Coast canoe trail linking Mersey and Humberside offers a new perspective on North England’s verdant and diverse landscapes. Following the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and the Aire and Calder Navigation, kayakers can take between five and eight days to complete the meandering and scenic 260km (162-mile) route passing through 100 locks. Further north Scotland celebrates its year of Coast and Waters in 2020. We’ve put together a full run down on unique ways to experience the coast in Britain for you here.

In Bond’s typical dramatic style, 2020 also sees Daniel Craig return for a final outing as the quintessential British spy and Lashana Lynch revealed as the first female 007 in No Time to Die. Visitors to Britain will be able to live the Bond lifestyle and put themselves in the picture with scenes from the latest installment filmed in the iconic London’s Horse Guards Parade and the splendour of Whitehall, as well as the gleaming emerald forests of the Scottish Highlands.
