"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" Gala Opening Night

Willy Wonka Car
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" has opened to rave reviews in Sydney. The Gala Opening Night  at the Capitol Theatre was an outstanding success on Friday 11 January.

Many famous celebrities appeared on the Red Carpet at the front of the theatre. Some even came with their partners and children as a family outing to enjoy this musical. Stars of stage, TV and screen dressed up in their imaginative best were among those who posed for the cameras.

However, Opening Night was much more than the Red Carpet. In front of the theatre the fabulous Willy Wonka car was parked, a fairy floss machine turned out the colourful, sweet, sticky confection, a bubble machine blew bubbles to float around in the air and a Willy Wonka living statue greeted theatre goers. Inside the theatre drinks and a plentiful supply of chocolates, lollies and freshly popped popcorn were freely given out. It was good to see the organisers go to so much trouble for Opening Night.

Anyone intending to step into a world of pure imagination by seeing "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" need to be quick off the mark to book their seats. Many January performances are already sold out. Book for mid week in February for the cheapest seats, and weekends in March or May for best ones.
