Phare: The Cambodian Circus Show in Siem Reap

Phare, The Cambodian Circus, is performed in Siem Reap. It is a 90-minute spectacle that blends riveting theatre with folk music, captivating choreography, hypnotic colour and distinctly Cambodian stories.

The young circus artists, many of who are from challenging social and economic backgrounds, perform skillfully as they hypnotize the audience with their energy and emotion. The charity Phare Ponleu Selpak helps vulnerable children and adults in Cambodian society.

The impressive theatre is in the historical heart of Siem Reap. The curtains part to reveal a talented troupe of acrobats and dancers who perform with sleek agility.

Phare is a spectacle that depicts Cambodian culture, history and belief.  It is a compelling combination of acrobatics, juggling, aerial arts, contortion and dance.

Momoko Ikeuchi is Sales Manager at Phare, The Cambodian Circus, operated by Phare Performing Social Enterprise.

Momoko Ikeuchi
She watched Phare’s circus show for the very first time in her home province, Fukuoka in Japan. Seeing that performance inspired and motivated her to move to Cambodia in 2012 so that she could explore Cambodian life and culture.

Since the establishment of the Phare Performing Social Enterprise in 2013, she has been working to bring people from around the world to watch its nightly show, as well as selling private shows domestically.

Momoko has contributed to sales growth by tour agency channels.  She has gained new 7600 guests per year to the show by winning 4 Mekong cruise series group bookings from 2014 to 2018. She has represented the company in Cambodia Travel Mart and Mekong Tourism Forum in Thailand.
