Australia’s developing tastes mean new entries for the Sydney Royal Spring Fine Food competitions.

The ever-evolving Fine Food scene in Australia has resulted in a number of new categories for the Sydney Royal Spring Fine Food competitions which are now open for entry to judging 2018.
The former Beef, Lamb and Pork categories will in future fall within the Branded Meat Competition.
Branded Meat categories will include Domestic and Export Lamb, Hogget and Mutton, Boneless Pork Loin, and Grass Grain Feed Beef and a new overall open class with the prestigious Dick Stone Perpetual Trophy to be awarded to the overall Champion from the Lamb, Pork and Beef Classes, in the words of the committee, “the best bit of meat we ate for the entire competition!
The former Deli Meats classes will change and will now be known as the Smallgoods and Charcuterie Competition, keeping in step with where charcuterie and smallgoods manufacturing is going
In the Regional Food Competition Herbal Tea and Infusions are making an appearance for the first time and includes the on trend Kombucha.
Entries for the Sydney Royal Spring Fine Food Competitions close June 26, 2018 and judging will take place across late August and September.
The winners will be announced at the Sydney Royal Taste of Excellence Awards night, Friday, September 21, 2018 at The Stables, the home of Sydney Royal at Sydney Showground.
Sydney Royal Fine Food accolades are highly regarded and often considered a springboard to wider markets for producers.
“Winning a Sydney Royal medal earns a producer the right to call themselves the ‘Best of the Best’ and stamp their products with the Sydney Royal branding for the following five years,” said Sydney Royal Fine Food Chair, Lyndey Milan OAM.
“Every day the Australian Fine Food scene takes on a new dimension and the Sydney Royal Wine, Dairy and Fine Food team is happy to accommodate these developments through expanded competitions or more relevant labelling of those competitions,” Ms Milan said.
