St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Day

St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Day
St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Days was formed in 1996 and is a great weekend for people with an interest in breeds like Clydesdales, Shires, Percherons and Draught horses and other Heavy Horse breeds.

The event is held at the St Heliers Exhibition Grounds, St Heliers Rd, Muswellbrook every year in May, and is only a five minute drive north of Muswellbrook in the Hunter Valley.

For the heavy horse owner the competition is open to all heavy horse breeds and runs over 2 days. Events include lead, ridden, slide obstacle, ploughing, long reining, log snig, heritage and show horse drawn vehicles, pumpkin snatch, work day challenge and a few more.

There is plenty for the public to see over the 2 days with classes starting at 8.30am Saturday and Sunday and finishing at approx. 4.30pm on Saturday and 2.00pm on Sunday with the presentation to follow. There are stall holders selling arts and craft, antiques, leather work and memorabilia and demonstrations throughout the weekend. There are plenty of food outlets to keep you satisfied over the weekend. Saturday night is our annual Auction where we auction off a variety of goods and all proceeds go back into the Field Days.

There is camping available on-grounds (un-powered and basic facilities) $5.00 per night, available to the traveller. So come on over to the Field Days on the 19th and 20th May and make a weekend of it.
