Marcus Cotton & Jhalak Raj Chaudhary |
Key members of the Secret Retreats family are the Hosts themselves. Artisans of life, each showcases their country’s precious gifts through their property welcoming guests in unconventional ways as a personal host rather than a hotelier.
By knowing their stories, you can better appreciate the places they’ve created. Below is just one of the unique tales from your hosts but you can see even more here.
Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge Nepal
As the two main faces of Tiger Mountain Pokhara Lodge, Marcus comes from a traditional Buckinghamshire farming village in England, while Jhalak was born and raised in Meghauli Village on the edge of Chitwan National Park in Nepal. Both men equally embrace the vision for Responsible Conservation Tourism and this commitment is reflected in all they do. Working with the local community and respecting the region’s environment, they’ve kept the lodge grounds in their natural state in order to support the habitat for the birds, butterflies and other native animals.
The lodge, which is a haven for guests, also employs members of the local community with whom the men share their values of conservation and preserving the environment. Seeing the increased confidence and professionalism of the lodge’s has been both a goal and deeply satisfying reward of the owners who aspire to pass their passion and integrity onto future generations of managers and employees.
