The research also found that people value Centennial Parklands for its nature and beauty, landscape, environmental value, a place to spend time with others and a place of entertainment.
Executive Director of Botanic Gardens & Centennial Parklands Kim Ellis said, “For 130 years Centennial Parklands has provided a haven for Sydneysiders, visitors and wildlife alike and are recognised as some of the most historical and culturally-significant public spaces in Australia.”
Today these three parks play a critical role in Sydney’s green infrastructure and providing health and well-being of Sydney-siders and its visitors. This research supports and verifies the work and funding we have invested to make Centennial Parklands a world-class destination”.
Since 2015, nearly $28 million has been invested into upgrading heritage assets, facilities, sports fields, horticulture, education, volunteering and programs across the board. The incredibly-popular Ian Potter Children’s WILD PLAY Garden, Fearnley Grounds and the new accessibility upgrades and Driving Range at Moore Park Golf has seen numbers soar to the Parklands.”
