St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Day

Well it’s not long to go now. Hopefully you’ve all got your heavies in work and getting ready for a fantastic 2018 St Heliers Heavy Horse Field Day.

Preparations are certainly well underway for our May field Day. All our Judges are secured and stewards, helpers and committee members are keen to make it a wonderful weekend for all.

This year we are beginning our “Feature Breed” with the Australian Draught Horse. There will be extra prizemoney and prizes for the winners of the Led classes and a special prize for the leading working Australian Draught Horse. So if you own a Registered Australian Draught Horse this is a field day not to miss.

We seem to have ever growing numbers of ridden heavy horses, and are looking forward to seeing a good turn out again this year for the flat work out and obstacle course.

Hopefully the lovely rain that we’ve just had will continue and our plough grounds will be in great condition again this year. It’s looking like we will have a few more beginner ploughers this year. Always great to see some new faces, especially on the plough grounds. We look forward to having Kevin and Ben Sullivan back again this year to Judge and provide expert commentary on the ploughing.

We will again have our Saturday night Auction and Bush poetry around the campfire. So dust off those Poetry books and get learning. If anyone would like to donate anything for our auction on Saturday night please contact myself or Kylie Sercombe. We are getting a good selection of stallholders booking in and are organising some interesting demonstrations.

We will again be using our timesaver entry forms this year. So please come ready on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning with your pre filled out entry form, indemnity form and membership, if required. The office will be open Friday afternoon so please head over; this will help speed up the process for everyone.

Here’s hoping the rain continues and the season improves for everyone. Happy preparations and safe travels. Can’t wait to see you all in May.
