Brisbane’s cultural prowess is magnified during September with the epic events calendar of cultural gold put together by the folks at Brisbane Festival. Highlights this year include Zoe Coombs Marr: Trigger Warning, a hilarious introduction to a mouthy stand-up who just happens to be the alter-ego of a feminist comedian. Sounds confusing right? If you love your horror flicks, another must-see is Gothic, Giallo, Gore: Masters of Italian Horror at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA).

And to round out the Brisbane Festival, meet the rest of the city down by the river to watch the fireworks display of the Sunsuper Riverfire (30 Sep).
