NSW is home to some of Australia’s most-loved contemporary artists and the next big names may soon be discovered at an exciting new exhibition.
Presented at the Armory in Sydney Olympic Park, ARTEXPRESS is a free annual exhibition showcasing NSW visual art students’ works that have been created for the Higher School Certificate examination.
Assembled for the sixth consecutive year by respected curator Danielle Gullotta, the works featured in this year’s show are linked by the theme Wild Things.
“Wild Things presents a survey of artists that have found inspiration from the untamed wilderness, natural phenomenon, the animal world, human entangled relationships and the structures of contemporary society,” Ms Gullotta said.
The works span a broad range of expressive media forms including painting, photo-media, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, graphic design, documented forms, textiles, ceramics and time-based forms.
ARTEXPRESS is showing from Tuesday, 28 February to Tuesday, 25 April 2017, with free curator talks on 5 March and 23 April, and free kids’ workshops on 13 and 18 April.
