National Geographic Features Rainbow Mountains

Well-known for its maps and award-winning photography, National Geographic recently published a story about the top seven most stunning natural wonders in Asia.

Number four on the list is the Zhangye Danxia Landform, also known informally as the Rainbow Mountains for its striated layers of minerals and rock that show vivid shades of magenta, deep red, and yellow. Located in Gansu province, Zhangye Danxia Landform Geological Park was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 2010.
