The Sydney Olympic Park precinct will combine the best of world-class sporting and entertainment infrastructure with new homes, transport links, parklands and retail under a new plan just released by the NSW Government.
NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events and Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres said the draft Sydney Olympic Park Master Plan 2030 had unlocked the future vision of one of the city’s most treasured precincts.
“Sydney Olympic Park will be buzzing with world-class sporting events, concerts and entertainment, amid lively streets bustling with shops and cafes, plus extensive parks, open space and shared pathways for cycling and walking,” Mr Ayres said.
NSW Minister for Planning Rob Stokes said the Olympic Park precinct – an industrial wasteland before the Olympics – is testament to the dynamic changes that Sydney has experienced and that will continue through urbanisation.
“This draft plan identifies how we could transform the area into a vibrant town centre where residents, workers and visitors can enjoy some of the best that Sydney has to offer,” Mr Stokes said.
Online community feedback on the proposal is invited until 15 November 2016.
