Taronga's 100 Year Birthday Parade

Rove McManus will be hosting the #Taronga100 closing birthday celebrations tonight at the Sydney Opera House. There is going to be an incredible parade, commemorating the similar move of the animals 100 years ago to their new home at the zoo in Mosman. No real animals tonight obviously, instead it will be recreated using the amazing likenesses from this year's Vivid Festival. You can be there in person or watch the event live from the Taronga Zoo Facebook page from 8pm.

Taronga Zoo's Centenary year is drawing to a close but we have left our biggest event to last! Taronga Zoo would love for you to join us on Saturday 15th October from 8pm for our 100 Year Birthday Parade.

Beginning at Hyde Park, the fabulous light parade will be escorted by a cast of singing and dancing school children, volunteers and staff who will retrace the steps of Jessie the elephant and other animals who made the journey in 1916 from the zoological gardens in Moore Park to the current site of Taronga Zoo. The parade will head along Macquarie Street to the Sydney Opera House, where a spectacular grand finale dance performance will take place.
