On 15 October 2016, at Dong Van Town’s Stadium, Dong Van District, Ha Giang Province, People’s Committee of Ha Giang Province organized the opening ceremony of the 2nd Ha Giang Buckwheat Flower Festival 2016 with the theme “Rock in blossom”.
The opening ceremony had the attendances of Mr. Trieu Tai Vinh - Secretary of Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee, Mr. Hau A Lenh - Permanent Deputy Head of North-West Steering Committee, Mr. Ngo Hoai Chung - Deputy Director General of Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism, representatives of departments and agencies, and numerous local people, domestic and foreign visitors.
At the opening ceremony, the art program themed “The karst plateau – Thousand flowers blooming” was organized with the participations of nearly 300 artists and actors. The performances in the program were stage elaborately to praise the beauty of land and people in Ha Giang Province; express the strong vitality of the highland people and the beauty of the buckwheat flowers.
The 2nd Ha Giang Buckwheat Flower Festival 2016 took place from 14 to 16 October in 4 districts of Quan Ba, Yen Minh, Dong Van and Meo Vac with many outstanding activities such as: display and introduction of typical cultural, agricultural products of the localities in Ha Giang Province; experience of tourism products and enjoy products made from buckwheat flower themed “The soul of rock”; the night of buckwheat flower wine; street parade with theme “Buckwheat flower’s legend”, etc.
According to the organizing board, this year’s festival welcomed about 120,000 visitor arrivals, almost double the last year’s number. Some favorite tourist sites consist of Vuong Family’s Palace, Lung Cu Flag Tower, Lung Cam Tourism Culture Village, etc.
Ha Giang Buckwheat Flower Festival is identified as one of the important activities to build the buckwheat flowers into the specific tourism product of Ha Giang Province, thereby promoting the tourism potentials and advantages of the province, contributing to attracting visitors and improving the life for local people in the karst plateau.
