Viet Nam for the first time hosted the ASEAN Children Festival from May 28 to June 2 in Ha Noi, the Viet Nam News Agency reports.
The festival is co-organized by the Viet Nam Television (VTV), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, embassies of ASEAN countries in Viet Nam, and Ha Noi-based Cooperation and Development Foundation in celebration of the International Children’s Day on June 1.
The event gathered children aged between nine and 15 from seven ASEAN countries and consisted of a series of activities for participants to get an insight into cultures of the bloc and help boost exchanges.
As part of the festival, children visited the Viet Nam Museum of Ethnology in Ha Noi to study the culture of Vietnamese ethnic groups and play Vietnamese folk games. They also toured other attractions of Ha Noi, including Hoan Kiem (Sword) Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, and Temple of Literature, as well as enjoy a water puppetry show.
A music and dance gala was one of the highlights of the festival and aired on VTV1 channel on June 1.
