2015 Art Kaohsiung, organized by the Kaohsiung City Government Bureau of Cultural Affairs, will take place from December 11–13 at the Pier 2 Art Center and City Suites Kaohsiung. The exhibition has collaborated with several art fairs active in Asia, with an aim to establish an intersecting platform for Southeast Asian and Northeast Asian art. The collaborative theme will not only enhance the international visibility of Art Kaohsiung, but also instill an abundance of international resources to the exhibition.
Since its initiation in 2013, Art Kaohsiung has gradually expanded its scale over the years, actively working to develop the art industry of southern Taiwan and exploring new trends in the art market. 2015 Art Kaohsiung has invited a total of 104 top quality galleries from Europe and Asia, including Japan's top contemporary art galleries such as Whitestone Gallery, Clear Edition & Gallery, YOD Gallery, BEAMS Group’s B Gallery; Thailand’s La Lanta Fine Art; Korea’s Keumsan Gallery; Malaysia’s Artemis Art and G13 Gallery; Taipei’s Liang Gallery, William Art Space, Yiri Arts; Kaohsiung’s Black Forest Art Center; Tainan’s Soka Art Center; and Pingtung’s Ba Bi Song Gallery, merging the characteristics and artistic styles of various regions by showcasing the works of 700 artists. It is expected to attract more than 12,000 visitors this year.
Additionally, there will be a curatorial collaboration between 2015 Art Kaohsiung and the Osaka Art Fair, inviting the prominent Japanese art critic and researcher Mr. Kato Yoshio and renowned artist Mr. Kimura Hideki for in-depth artist talks. The assembly has also organized a special zone for displaying Malaysian contemporary art, inviting artist and Asian Artist Association Malaysia Committee Chairman Dr. Jin-Gou Zhong to deliver a keynote speech on "The Development and Evolution of Modern Art in Malaysia", highlighting the theme of this year's exhibition and forum. This exhibition fuses the trajectory of local art with current international art scene trends, making 2015 Art Kaohsiung the most sought after art event in southern Taiwan.
