Quite a Week for Moab

Fodor's Travel announced the fifth annual Fodor's Go List. http://bit.ly/1TZ7QVb This year and for the first time, a top destination was selected for the year. It is Utah! It happens that the Utah state park system also contributed to the news with this week's Park of the Week. http://1.usa.gov/1m8PXrN

“With so many destinations worth visiting it can be overwhelming for travelers to decide where they should go next,” said Arabella Bowen, Editor in Chief of Fodor's Travel. “Our Go List helps guide travelers when they are making that decision and this year we went a step further by recommending Utah as our top destination to visit in 2016.”

Each Destination Management Organization of Utah is already preparing for a busy travel year as 2016 is also the Centennial celebration of National Park Service (NPS) which comes on the heels of a very successful Mighty 5 campaign by the Utah Office of Tourism, noting the resplendent qualities of five National Parks in southern Utah. https://youtu.be/QlKOcyf915M

National Park Service will be offering 16 free days in 2016 according to a press release last week. http://1.usa.gov/1OOfDVX Those dates are Martin Luther King, Jr. Day January 18, National Park Week January 16-24, National Park Service Birthday and the following weekend (it is the Centennial after all) August 25- 28, National Public Lands Day September 24, and Veterans Day November 11. However, only 127 of the 409 NPS sites charge an entrance fee, a fee that varies from $3 - $30. Utah's Mighty 5 cost: Zion and Bryce $30 each, Capitol Reef $10, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks charge $25 each valid for a car for 7 days. Or invest in the America the Beautiful Pass, an $80 annual pass to all federal sites.

Not to be paled by the federal lands set aside to 'preserve unimpaired natural and cultural resources', Utah's State Parks provides additional rich assets of activities, museums and wide open spaces to also be enjoyed during travel to Utah, partaking of Fodor's Go List. And this week, Moab Utah is proud to shout-out-loud, Dead Horse Park State Park is the Utah park of the week! Also this week, The Culture Trip advised of The 10 Most Beautiful Towns in Utah, guess what? Moab is at the top of that list - beaming in Southeastern Utah, from Moab Utah. http://bit.ly/1G1uVmw
