Camel tours launched in Birdsville

Adventurers to Outback Queensland will not only sample a tasty camel pie from the Birdsville Bakery; they can also ride one of the four-legged ships of the desert on a Camel Tour.

Developed by local camel legend, Tom Woodhouse, the tours run on demand from the Birdsville Bakery and snake along the Birdsville Billabong.

Visitors will learn about the history of camels in the Outback, plus hear a yarn or three from Tom who has been riding camels since the age of six.

It's a long way to the shop if you want a sausage roll, but it's worth the trip!
