Tourism Minister, Thong Khon, told local media that the international event would be televised live and aired on international TV channels.
Up to now, more than 300 people have registered to take part in this Ultra Marathon.
Initiated by Jean-Claude Le Cornec, four races are scheduled in the programme categorised by the levels of difficulty: 128 km Ultra Trail, 32 km Trail, 64 km Trail and 32 km Nordic Walking.
Ultra Trail Angkor 2016, organised by Sport Development and Performance, follows on from similar events in China, India, Laos, Vietnam and Indonesia.
The Angkor Ultra Trail is also open to Nordic Walking. This exercise is an outdoor sport consisting of accelerated walking with specific walking sticks, usually made of composite material. One of the pioneers of Nordic Walking, Arja Jalkanen Meyer, will join the programme.
