Flemington Racecourse Tours

Home of the Melbourne Cup since 1861, Flemington is one of Australia's most significant cultural and sporting venues. Flemington is a National Heritage listed site, and boasts the largest public rose garden in the Southern Hemisphere.

Visitors can learn about the highlights and heroes from Flemington's history and tour the landmarks that have made the Melbourne Cup 'the race that stops a nation'.

The Flemington Heritage Centre: a multimedia experience including artefacts from the Club's archival collection that brings to life the history, drama, fashion and excitement of racing at Flemington.

A guided walking tour: explore behind the scenes at Flemington Racecourse, and tour the jockey and stewards rooms, mounting yard and historical points of interest, such as where Phar Lap was stalled prior to his 1930 Melbourne Cup win.

They run a number of different tours to suit the interests, abilities and needs of your group.
  • Standard Tour: view the Flemington Heritage Centre 'racecourse of dreams' exhibition and take a guided walking tour of the grounds.
  • Educational Groups: we cater for primary, secondary and tertiary level subjects. Educational tours include activity sheets for primary groups, art and heritage, grounds and gardens, corporate social responsibility, sustainability and event management.
  • Social Groups: enjoy a tour around Flemington followed by a relaxing lunch at the Headquarters Tavern. The Heritage Centre will manage your bookings for both the tour and lunch.
