Hamilton Island is again looking forward to welcoming a record number of Chinese visitors to the island with bookings still expected and room nights sold already up by 34% compared to 2014.
Glenn Bourke, Hamilton Island's CEO, said: 'We are delighted to see Chinese visitor numbers increase again this year and we are always looking at ways to ensure our guests feel welcome and enjoy their time on island.'
Mr Bourke went on to say he understands the importance of the Asian markets for Australian tourism and Hamilton Island is constantly developing its offering and services to accommodate the growth in this sector.
'Over the last couple of years we have made some significant changes to our island operations to accommodate our Chinese guests but this year we are stepping it up further and I'm excited to announce that the Hamilton Island App will now also be available in Chinese. The newly translated version of the app will be launched in time for Chinese New Year and I hope this ensures our guests are better informed about the activities available enhancing their island experience.'
The Chinese app will also include information about the festivities planned to entertain guests over this period. These include a kids fun zone with lantern and fan making, a watermelon carving demonstration, street style food stalls with dumplings, noodles and pecking duck, a magic show with Joshua Huang, one of Australia's most well-known magicians as well as a Lion Dancer show and spectacular fireworks display to mark the celebrations.
Other attractions and benefits for guests visiting Hamilton Island is the proximity to world famous Whitehaven Beach and the Great Barrier Reef with daily tours available to both destinations.
Accommodation on Hamilton Island over the Chinese New Year period (19 February 2015 – 25 February 2015 inclusive) starts from AUD$360 per room per night (based on 4+ nights) in a Garden View room. For bookings, visit www.hamiltonisland.com.au.
