International chinese new year night parade celebrates its 20th year with surprises for visitros & local residents

Visitors and local residents alike will find extra delights in Hong Kong this Chinese New Year, as the International Chinese New Year Night Parade, organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and title-sponsored by Cathay Pacific Airways, celebrates its 20th staging. Red packets with discount coupons will be distributed to visitors arriving at Hong Kong International Airport, and a total of 98,888 cake vouchers will be given out along the route of the night parade.

HKTB Chairman Dr Peter Lam said: “Through the years, the night parade has become a signature event and successfully turned Chinese New Year into a popular period for visitors to travel to Hong Kong. The HKTB is grateful for the unstinting support of Cathay Pacific Airways, which has been the event’s title sponsor for 17 years. During our trade missions to various short-haul markets in January and February, we promoted the 20th staging of the night parade to our overseas trade partners. We also launched attractive tourism products, and organised familiarisation tours for nearly 100 media guests from the region so that they can help us promote the boisterous Chinese New Year celebrations in Hong Kong to consumers in their markets.”

Mr Ivan Chu, Chief Executive of Cathay Pacific Airways, title sponsor of the night parade for the 17th consecutive year, said: “The International Chinese New Year Night Parade is the perfect way to welcome in the Year of the Sheep. This vibrant, colourful spectacle encapsulates everything that’s special about Hong Kong, and Cathay Pacific is proud to have been the title sponsor for the past 17 years. We look forward to celebrating the beginning of the Lunar New Year with the people of Hong Kong and many thousands of visitors from around the world.”
