With more than four and a half and a half metres at Hokkaido's most popular ski areas there will be a very White Christmas. However, the other good news is with so much snow already it guarantees a very good season for Australian snow enthusiasts.
If you haven't booked a Japanese snow package there's quite a variety of well-priced packages on offer particularly in February and March.
One good example is SkiJapan.com's Seven nights (for the price of six) in a spacious suite at Rusutsu's ski in - ski out four star Resort Hotel, from $867 per person valid from 24 February until season close.
Also included in this well-priced package at the three mountain resort (that boasts 12-14 metres of snow each winter) is return coach transfers from Chitose International Airport, meet and greet at the airport bySkiJapan.com's staff on arrival, daily breakfasts and a Free Six Day ski lift pass (usually about $290 for the six days) valid at its West, East and Isola ski areas.
Snow equipment hire can be prebooked and a day at nearby Niseko can be arranged. Rusustu is one of the numerous Hokkadio powder playgrounds that is considered very good value-for-money due to the current exchange rate. It is located 90 minutes from Sapporo's Chitose International Airport.
