Australia is all set to welcome its busiest summer cruise season with around six hundred ships scheduled to visit various Australian ports over the next few months. Australia eagerly awaits the arrival of Cunard’s all three ships namely Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria.Queen Mary 2, the largest vessel ever in Australia will halt at Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, the Whitsundays, Darwin, Bali and Adelaide. Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria will visit only Sydney and Brisbane.
Itineraries of Pacific Pearl and the luxurious Seabourn Sojourn include some infamous ports like Geelong, Eden, Robe and Exmouth. Seabourn Sojourn and Seabourn Odyssey have some of the most exclusive all-suite accommodation available at sea as well as the largest spa on any ultra-luxury vessel.
With the growing popularity of cruising in Australia fresh opportunities have evolved to develop local tourism. Popular as well as smaller ports have been able to reap profits. The grand cruise season ensures Australia’s position as one of the fastest-growing cruise markets in the world with the number of Australian cruise passengers growing by an average 20 per cent a year over the past decade. It has been estimated that almost 700,000 Australians went on a cruise last season.
