Sydney Australia is set for another record cruise season, with a 30 per cent jump in bookings on last year’s record breaking period. 265 ships are booked to sail into Sydney this cruise season – up from 198 last season. At the peak of the season, referred to as Super February, there will be a record 40 ship visits in just 28 days.
Highlights of the coming season will include:
• 11 maiden ship calls
• The opening, in March 2013, of the new $57 million Cruise Passenger Terminal at White Bay
• The launch of a new Master Plan for the Overseas Passenger Terminal, with at least $30 million in improvements
• Access to Garden Island berthing for three cruise ships.

The eleven maiden visits this season include the 88,500-tonne Carnival Spirit which will become the biggest ever home-ported ship in Australia. Two other major maiden highlights will be the seasonal deployments of Royal Caribbean’s super-ships, Voyager of the Seas and Celebrity Solstice, which will berth at the OPT and conduct a total of 22 cruises out of Sydney during the season.
Other ships making their first visits to Sydney in 2012/13 are Oosterdam, Celebrity Millenium, Costa Romantica, Columbus 11, Artania, Seabourn Quest, Island Sky and MS Marina.
