Raised near Spring Ridge on the Liverpool Plains, Cam managed the irrigation grain farm Inveraray Downs before later purchasing Levondale at Willow Tree. Today he resides near Warral outside Tamworth while continuing his agricultural pursuits.
Cam’s achievements within Australian agriculture are remarkable. He was awarded the prestigious Australian Nuffield Scholarship in 1992, received a Greening Australia Award at Parliament House in Canberra and earned the title of Carbon Cocky of the Year.
His passion for Scottish music began during his years at The Scots College, where he joined the Pipes and Drums. At just fourteen years old, Cam performed at the world-famous Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 1973, living for four weeks within Edinburgh Castle while participating in 27 performances.
By 1976, he had become Pipe Major, leading the Anzac Day March through Sydney and performing at official occasions including Government House. His musical journey later took him to Canada, France and Israel, where he played at the Light Horse and Commonwealth Memorials in Beersheba.
One of Cam’s proudest moments came in 2018 when he was invited to deliver the Speech Day address at the Sydney Opera House and inspect the Scots College Band before performing alongside them on the Opera House forecourt.
His lifelong commitment to agriculture, music and Scottish heritage makes him an inspiring choice as Chieftain for the 2026 Aberdeen Highland Games.
