Vipac Travel has launched a new tour of Ollantaytambo, the last living Incan town

Ollantaytambo is a village in the Sacred Valley of south Peru, on the Urubamba River and amid snow-capped mountains.

It's known for the Ollantaytambo ruins, a massive Inca fortress with large stone terraces on a hillside.

Major sites within the complex include the huge Sun Temple and the Princess Baths fountain.

The village's old town is an Incaera grid of cobblestoned streets and adobe buildings.

The trek visits the Inca Fortress of Ollantaytambo, the Araqwa Ayllu and the Qosqo Ayllu as well as a walk through its narrow stone streets built several centuries ago.

It continues to Pumamarca, a pre-Inca fortress dating from approximately 900 AD The settlement was positioned to defend Ollantaytambo from the eastern approaches, which lead to the jungle.

The tour includes a stay at the Qolqas Lodge that is surrounded by the Apus mountains and a trip to the Machu Picchu citadel.
