Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Le Phuc, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT); Mr. Tong Thanh Hai, Standing Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Lai Chau Province; Leaders of Phongsaly Province (Lao People's Democratic Republic), representatives of departments and agencies in 8 expanded Northwest provinces (including Lai Chau, Phu Tho, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Hoa Binh, Lao Cai, Son La, Yen Bai), Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City, businesses, domestic and foreign visitors and a large number of local ethnic groups.
Lai Chau is a charming and mysterious land in the Northwestern Region of the country, where God favourably bestowed the majestic beauty of nature with the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, the place has top of the " four great mountain passes" of Vietnam. In particular, Lai Chau is also home to 6 among 10 mountain peaks in the top of the highest mountains in the country.
Lai Chau tourism currently holds a competitive advantage in the region and the whole country with many tourist sites such as Rong May glass bridge ecotourism, Hoang Lien Son Pass ecotourism area, special community tourist attractions of ethnic groups of Mong, Thai, and Dao. In particular, the locality has advantages and potential for adventure sports tourism associated with conquering the peaks of Putaleng, Bach Moc Luong Tu, Ta Lien Son, and Pusilung...
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tong Thanh Hai, Standing Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Lai Chau Province stated that not only possessing rich natural resources, Lai Chau is also a place with a rich history, culture and unique of 20 ethnic groups. Lai Chau people are kind hearted, friendly and hospitable. Lai Chau is a bridge between two famous tourist destinations, Sa Pa and Dien Bien Phu, located next to the Kunming (China) - Lao Cai - Ha Noi - Hai Phong economic corridor, and is a province that shares a border with China.
On the basis of available potentials and strengths, after 18 years of re-establishment, Lai Chau Province has preserved and rationally exploited historical values, tangible and intangible cultural values, and natural resources as well as promoting administrative reform, improving the investment environment, and attracting investment resources in socio-economic infrastructure. Lai Chau Tourism - Culture Week with the theme "Returning to the magnificent mountains of Lai Chau" is an opportunity for promoting the image of Lai Chau land and people, uphold tourism development.
In the framework of the Lai Chau Tourism - Culture Week, many local activities take place such as: The 3rd Opening International Pu Ta Leng Paragliding Tournament, Cultural Festival in Tam Duong District; Pavi ancient-stone road running race through the forest connecting Phong Tho District with Bat Xat District (Lao Cai Province); Swallowtail boat race in Than Uyen District, etc.
This event contributes promoting typical cultural values and types of eco-tourism, community, sports, and typical agricultural products to attract enterprises to research, learn and invest in Lai Chau.
During the opening ceremony, delegates, people and visitors enjoyed a special performance with the Carnaval festival programme, a street parade with the theme "Returning to the magnificent and colourful mountains of Lai Chau" with the participation of 8 districts, cities and community tourism villages. The programme aims to show the natural beauty of Lai Chau and the lives of 20 ethnic groups with impressive and unique traditional cultural values. This is the highlight of the opening ceremony of Lai Chau Tourism - Culture Week in 2022.
