As with many industries hit hard by the ongoing border restrictions in Aotearoa New Zealand, ACB had been waiting in anticipation for the Government’s decision on ending MIQ (Managed Isolation and Quarantine).
We are excited to start welcoming overseas delegates back to our shores, with vaccinated Australians arriving from 12 April 2022 and visitors from visa-waiver countries from 1 May 2022.
The decommissioning of facilities that are no longer part of the MIQ network began last month and sees eleven Auckland hotels returning to market. Read full details here.
We have been working on some exceptional resources and promotional activity to support and drive the reawakening of the business events sector in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.

Annual General Meetings
Is it time to reconnect and re-engage with your board, shareholders and stakeholders?
Annual General Meetings (AGMs) benefit your organisation in many ways. Mostly, to update stakeholders on the business’ progress over the past financial year, but also to notify stakeholders of any changes and plans for the next 12 months.
Another wider benefit of an AGM is that it provides a forum to represent the best of your company to key stakeholders and shareholders and engage them by showcasing innovations, achievements and getting them excited about business activity planned for the coming year.
Tāmaki Makaurau has the space, experience, and capability to deliver a successful AGM. Whether you need the flexibility of a hybrid option or the capacity for a face-to-face presentation, there is always a venue that will deliver.

Site Inspection of Cordis Auckland Pinnacle Tower
Grace and Debra were hosted by Maxine for a site inspection of the new Pinnacle tower at Cordis Auckland last month.
Opened in December 2021, the addition of the Pinnacle Tower has brought Cordis Auckland’s room count to 640.
Accents in the colour palette leave hints that you are still in the same hotel, but the Pinnacle Tower brings freshness and vibrancy, and the new Jade function space offers lots of natural light and a terrace overlooking City Road.
Access to the Pinnacle Tower via the lobby feels like an intimate art gallery experience, with exceptional New Zealand and international artworks on display. Even the lift areas are inspiring – each floor features a different scene of Aotearoa New Zealand in luxurious lightboxes structured around the four elements of earth, water, fire, and wind.
The executive suites come with access to the level 14 Executive Club Lounge and its views across the city to the harbour. From a delicious breakfast to begin your day through to evening drinks and elegant canapés to end it, the lounge also offers a private space for hosting.
AIME 2022 – Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event
Australasia’s largest business events industry event was held in Melbourne in March. The energy and buzz felt over those few days at AIME showed a real sense of the Business Event Industry gearing back up stronger than ever. The 17-strong contingent representing New Zealand (including Auckland representation from New Zealand International Convention Centre, Auckland Conventions Venues & Events, Cordis, and Grand Millennium) received positive feedback from Australian buyers, showing a strong desire to return to Tāmaki Makaurau.
Our Australian Business Development Manager, Anne-Sophie, had a full appointment stream, with 32 appointments over two days. She reported back a number of significant business opportunities that will help drive the revival of the business events industry.
