Famous for bringing relaxed outdoor summer vibes to Wednesday nights in Melbourne, the return of the Summer Night Market is the Market’s first large-scale night-time event since April 2020.
A mid-week ritual for both locals and visitors alike, Queen Victoria Market’s open-air sheds will come alive with delicious street food, refreshing drinks, great shopping featuring local and independent artisans as well as live music from a line-up of home-grown performers.
Across the 13-week season, Night Market-goers will be able to fill their bellies and quench their thirst from a selection of global street food stalls, carts and trucks, plus five festival bars. Returning favourites include:
- The Cypriot Kitchen: with their famous halloumi chips.
- Bigger than Texas: succulent American-style, smoky barbecued meats.
- Frencheese: oozy, melted raclette.
- Taki’s Balls: mouth-watering flavoured doughnuts.
- Coconut Hub: freshly pressed sugarcane juice, perfect for those balmy nights.
- Antagonist Spirits: Apple Strawberry Mojito featuring their Sun-Baked Sundae Spiced Rum.Each week, the Summer Night Market will showcase local talent across two stages with a DJ on Queen Street and an acoustic stage under the sheds. Stay tuned for further announcements on the line-up of live music and entertainment.
Those interested in learning what 2022 has in store should drop-by The Spirit Zone – a designated space featuring some of Melbourne’s leading clairvoyants, fortune tellers and psychics. Meanwhile, book lovers will be able to explore new and pre-loved titles, browse second-hand records and mix and mingle with a variety of Victorian-based authors in The Book Nook.
Summer nights are back, and they have never looked better. So, gather family and friends for a bite to eat, enjoy some drinks and spend Wednesday nights exploring the Market’s many makers and creators showcasing their handmade pieces, textiles and homewares.
