Thai Handicrafts and Clothes

The Ministry of Culture has supported Thai handcrafted fabric and clothing for registration as part of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage.

The Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Faculty of Fine Arts, Srinakharinwirot University, held a meeting about Thai fabric to support local products and preserve national local wisdom.

For several years, Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother has supported Thai handicrafts, especially clothes, and encouraged communities to produce their own cultural goods.

This project is called Cultural Product of Thailand (CPOT), which encourages young designers to design Thai clothes with contemporary designs.

In addition, the ministry is also motivating Thai researchers to develop and preserve Thai clothes in order to increase the value of products and customize handicraft clothing in target markets.
