The second Muong Ethnic Cultural Festival will be held from October 29-31 in the north-central province of Thanh Hoa.

The event will feature the participation of artisans, actors, actresses and athletes from six provinces and cities, namely Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Son La, Phu Tho and Binh Phuoc, as well as a mass art troupe from Houaphane Province, Laos.

A wide variety of cultural, sports and tourism festivities will be held during the festival, including mass art performances, a show of traditional costumes and performances of gongs of Muong ethnic minority people, and an introduction to weaving handicrafts.

In addition, visitors will have the chance to know more about the cultural rituals as well as join many folk games of the Muong group such as traditional wrestling, “con” (colourful fabric ball) throwing, tug of war and stick pushing.

The festival aims to honour and promote the traditional cultural identities of the Muong ethnic minority group to both domestic and international friends, contributing to tourism development.

The event will also offer an opportunity for artisans, actors, actresses and athletes from six participating localities to exchange experience with each other.
