Matsuyama Castle

Matsuyama Castle is one of Japan's twelve "original castles" with a main structure surviving from the feudal era, and was built between 1603 and 1627.

Constructed on a 161 meter-high peak, the "tenshu" (main keep) affords a bird's eye view looking over Matsuyama City, making it the best sightseeing spot in town.

You can either take the ropeway or single chairlift to get to the top, or it's a pleasant 15-minute walk, enjoying these important historical buildings set in beautiful greenery.
