PEOPLE are lining up to learn Masterchef finalist Ben Ungermann's secret ice cream recipes.
As part of this year's Scenic Rim Eat Local Week, Ungermann Brothers ice cream are holding special classes teaching people how to make Ben's famous finger lime ice cream.
Ben, who is a Scenic Rim regional food ambassador is coming back to the region from Bali to take part in Eat Local Week.
The other half of Ungermann Brothers, Danny Ungerman, who runs the Ipswich ice cream parlour said they opened up three classes just to make the finger lime flavour and all three had sold out.
According to Danny the recipe uses lime skins from The Lime Caviar Company to form the base of the ice cream and the finger lime pearls for pops of refreshing tartness.
Danny said cooking classes were regularly being held during the year for those that missed out.
Not only can you can learn how to make the famous ice cream flavours, but you also get instruction on how to plate up desserts like a Masterchef.
“We launched our plated desserts this month, they were a hit on Mother's Day. Now they have been incorporated into the new menu.”
From now until Christmas you can order lemongrass vanilla ice cream with tropical fruits, sesame oil wasabi ice cream with miso caramel, dark chocolate with tastes of orange, liquorice allsorts, vanilla bean, chocolate and raspberry, bacon salted caramel and Belgian waffles as plated deserts.
If you missed out on the cooking class you will still be able to taste the finger lime ice cream at the Winter Harvest Festival in Aratula on July 6.
Ungermann Brothers will be running a stall, where you will be able to taste carrot cake and Belgian Ale flavoured ice cream with products all sourced from the Scenic Rim.
