According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the four resorts are a mountain resort in southwestern Sichuan Province, a river resort in the tourist city of Guilin in southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, a lake resort in southwestern Yunnan Province, and a farmland-themed resort in southern Guangdong Province.
Separate to its ranking of tourist attractions, China began granting the “national resort” title in 2015, aiming to boost the development of resort tourism.
Last year, 26 national resorts across the country received 96.7 million visits combined, generating 62.7 billion yuan (9.1 billion U.S. dollars) in revenue.
