Hydrangeas in Japan

Hydrangeas are among the best-known flowers in Japan, blooming from June to early July. Among all the places across the country where you can see hydrangeas, Kamakura is one spot you don't want to miss, especially the stairway leading up to Meigetsu-in Temple.

You may also wish to note that the temple which was founded in 1160 has been designated as a National Treasure. It is surrounded by stunning blue hydrangeas during the period.

It's no wonder this place is also known as “Ajisai-dera” ("Hydrangea Temple” in Japanese)!
