There will be a range of exhibition talks and tours available to visitors, plus the event offers the chance to come along for free on a Saturday to enjoy all the Museum has to offer including the new exhibitionNatural Curiosity: Discovering the secrets of Queensland’s greatest collections and the ever-popularSciencentre.
International Museum Day was celebrated for the first time 40 years ago. In 2018 more than 37 000 museums participated in the event across over 158 countries and territories. This year, the theme is Museums are Cultural Hubs: The future of tradition. It acknowledges that the role of museums in society is changing, and that they are becoming cultural hubs where visitors can co-create, share and interact.
