Cruise Solo, Minus the Hefty Surcharge

Cruising on the Murray Princess has never been cheaper, easier or as much fun for solo travellers with Captain Cook Cruises offering a single surcharge between only 25%-30% on normal twin share prices, for all three, four and seven-night cruises.

Traditionally, singles travelling alone pay the same cost for their accommodation as a couple, which can effectively be up to 100% increase on twin share per person prices.

“A lot of companies charge up to a 100% solo surcharge. We believe offering a surcharge between 25%-30%, is exceptional value for solo travellers.” said Julie-Anne Briscoe, Marketing Manager, SeaLink South Australia.

The Murray Princess herself is ideal for solo travellers. Being a small ship, she accommodates up to only 120 passengers, so cruises are very intimate and solo travellers can easily meet each other and groups of people, making lifelong friends.

The ship is still big enough for those who just want alone time to find the perfect nook on the open top deck or in the cosy paddle-wheel lounge, and simply enjoy the ever-changing Murray River scenery or get lost in a great book.

Fun-filled onboard and on-shore activities occur each day and range from playing Bingo to Bocce, to visiting riverside towns, cellar doors, a Sheep Shearing Show and even an Aboriginal Conservation Park. No matter the activity, guests remain in a group so solo travellers can feel safe and at ease throughout every experience.

Food is another highlight of the cruise. Indulge in a hearty hot buffet breakfast each morning, a two-course or buffet lunch each day and a three-course or buffet dinner each evening. There is a spectacular Captain’s dinner and dance to enjoy and even an Aussie-style barbecue dinner and bush dance on the river bank. All dining is in large group seating and for dinners everyone is assigned to the same table each evening.

The three-night Discovery Cruise travels between Walkers Flat and Murray Bridge and departs every Friday at 4.30pm with Early Booking Saver (EBS) fares starting from AU$1148 single fare.

The four-night Outback Heritage Cruise travels between Mannum and Blanchetown and departs every Monday at 4.30pm and EBS prices start from AU$1577 single fare.
