EVENTS
Windsor Chili Cookoff joins pro chili circuit

For the first time, contestants in the annual Windsor Chili Cookoff in July will be participating in an official event sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI), in the heart of the Sonoma County Wine Country.

Now hosted by the Windsor Chamber of Commerce, the fifth annual Windsor Chili Cookoff is set for noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, on Market Street on the Windsor Town Green. The main competition will be red chili, but cooks can also compete in the homestyle chili category. Additional prizes will be awarded for showmanship and the People’s Choice — under CASI rules, guests will get to taste all the red chilis, and vote for their favorite.

The cookoff also includes live music, craft beer, Sonoma County wine, craft spirits, iced tea, agua frescas, and brownies from local makers. Admission is $25; proceeds benefit the Windsor Fire Foundation and the culinary program at Windsor High School.

Art at the Source adds guided tours
With the addition of four guided Art & Wine Studio Tours, it’s now easier than ever to visit the artists participating in the annual Art at the Source in western Sonoma County on Saturday, June 9, and Sunday, June 10.

Each year more than 100 artists open their studios in western Sonoma County, and art lovers drive from place to place on this free, self-guided, open studios tour sponsored by the Sebastopol Center for the Arts. For the 24th annual Art at the Source, the center is also offering morning and afternoon guided tours of selected studios. Leave your map and GPS behind, and be driven through the stunning natural beauty of western Sonoma County.

Each tour includes a stop at Sebastopol Center for the Arts for a Wine Country welcome, with a light lunch from Hip Chick Kitchen and wine tasting by Harvest Moon Winery. Tours are available for four different scenic routes: Hills and Valleys on Saturday morning; Coastal Escape on Saturday afternoon; Vineyards and Views Sunday morning; and Russian River Ramble on Sunday afternoon. The cost for a single tour is $60 per person (21 and older).
