The International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) has been named Australia’s best infrastructure project.
NSW Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance welcomed the award, which was bestowed by Infrastructure Partnerships Australia.
“I am extremely proud that this Government has delivered a world class transformation to the Darling Harbour precinct with the stunning International Convention Centre at its heart,” Mr Constance said.
The $1.5 billion ICC Sydney was recognised for its design excellence, construction timeline and outstanding financial performance as well as for delivering the nation a new and emblematic piece of business events and tourism infrastructure.
After just three months in operation, the ICC Sydney Theatre has also been ranked globally, making it into Pollstar’s prestigious listing of the world’s top 50 theatre venues.
Pollster is a leading publication for the entertainment and concert industry, and the ranking places ICC Sydney among the likes of the Royal Albert Hall in London, Radio City Music Hall in New York, and the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.
Since opening in December 2016, ICC Sydney has hosted more than 170 major events, with a further 115 international events confirmed for coming years.
