NEW TRAVEL MANUAL LAUNCHED TO ATTRACT JAPANESE SCHOOL STUDENTS TO NSW

Students across Japan will benefit from new insights into studying and travelling in NSW with the new Education Travel Manual launched in Tokyo last week.

NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres launched the Manual developed by Destination NSW as part of his first official trade visit to Japan.

“The NSW Education Travel Manual is an exciting tourism product that will attract Japanese school groups to NSW and showcase the wide range of educational opportunities on offer in our great State,” Mr Ayres said.

“With many decades of success in education exchange behind Japan and Australia, it’s exciting to imagine how many more thousands of students’ horizons will be broadened through a visit to NSW.

“The Manual promotes independent study through useful websites, tips on further study and employment opportunities and activities available as part of a visit.

“Cultural and nature tourism experiences are detailed in locations across our stunning coastline, deserts and mountain ranges. Activities like surfing, kayaking and horse riding are also encouraged as well as taking in unique flora and fauna – always a hit with our Japanese visitors.

“Student groups are also encouraged to visit our regional destinations, such as the Blue Mountains, Port Stephens, Hunter Valley, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie and Armidale to sample unique food and enjoy the diverse natural environment.”

Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said the Manual will help to grow the popularity and profile of NSW in Japan.

“In the year ending March 2016, NSW welcomed 135,000 visitors from Japan, who stayed 2.6 million nights and spent an estimated $270 million in the State,” Ms Chipchase said.

“The NSW Education Travel Manual will help to attract larger groups of Japanese students to our wonderful State.”
